Trish Discord

Trish Discord is an Indie/Alternative artist from Queens, NY. Her sound is influenced by the Brooklyn grunge scene when writing her songs. Her style has been compared to Evanescence and The Cranberries. She plays shows weekly on her Instagram channel to connect with her fanbase and has been a guest performer on Indie Star Radio and Pistacio Argentina.

She has two degrees in psychology. It inspired her to incorporate mental health issues into her music. Trish has been singing all of her life and started taking professional guitar lessons in college.

Her first album, "Is This My Mental Breakdown?" dedicates each song to a different mental disorder. Her new single, Desire, talks about the anxiety you can have with a romantic interest.

An artist from Queens, NY influenced by a variety of genres including alternative rock, electronica, grunge, and indie rock.

Who inspired you to make music?

I have always felt like music was an outlet that worked best for me but in terms of inspirations I would say Mitksi and Hayley Williams are probably my top choices in terms of inspiring my music.

What or who inspired you to „Desire“?

I had been dating a guy who was giving mixed signals and eventually became very frustrated and wrote this song. The anxieties that come with liking someone and being unsure if they would like and accept you back are the main themes of the song.

The genre mixture sounds amazing (a bit of Darkwave, Alternative Rock, Indie), do you have a favorite genre?

I would say Alternative Rock mixed with Electronic lately has been my favorite so bands like Linkin Park, Pale Waves, or Falling in Reverse are a good example of what I like.

What is your creative process like?

I usually have a melody in my head that I record as a voicenote then I start to think of lyrics that fit the mood of that melody and start thinking of a central theme. Once I have those things I begin writing lyrics and the guitar parts then send it off to my producers, Emma Young and Devon Aviles, to do all the instruments I can’t do.

What is the most useful talent you have?

I would say being able to write lyrics and deliver a message that resonates with people has been a pretty cool talent to have. It is so flattering when someone tells me they felt a strong emotional connection to the song.

If you could change anything in the past, what would it be?

I would have started my music career a lot earlier but who knows if things would have played out the same way if I did!

How do you feel the Internet (especially Social Media platforms) has impacted the music business?

I would say the internet is changing the music industry in that an artist can be fully independent and promote their music without needing a record label compared to before when it was impossible.

What’s next for you?

Right now it’s to promote the new music video I made for „Desire“ (link below). Then I plan to release a full album in the fall at some point which is the album Desire is a single off of. Stay tuned for that!
