“You Left Early” by Solitude Sometimes Is
Solitude Sometimes Is is the exciting new project from South London musician Owen James, who has just released his debut single “You Left Early” on No Distance Records. The song is a catchy and energetic garage-punk tune that surprises with a brassy horn section that adds a touch of class and fun.
Owen says he was inspired by old Sixties pop with big brass sections, but he also gave the trumpet sound a modern twist with a punchy, hectic, New Wave vibe. The result is a song that sounds fresh and original, while also paying homage to the past. “You Left Early” is the first taste of Solitude Sometimes Is’ upcoming album “Float”, which is set to be released in September.
Owen showcases his musical talent by playing most of the instruments on the album, but he also enlisted the help of a special guest on the drums: Alex Reeves, the drummer for Elbow and many other amazing musicians.
The song is also a personal and emotional one, as it is based on the book ‘You Left Early: A True Story of Love and Alcohol’, where writer Louisa Young shares her experience of being in love with an alcoholic. Solitude Sometimes Is delivers a powerful and memorable single that makes us eager to hear more from this promising project.
