Through Modern Life’s Maze: “Mad About You” by Frank Joshua

“Mad About You” by Frank Joshua

The song “Mad About You” by Frank Joshua addresses the everyday challenges and inner conflicts that many people experience

It describes a monotonous routine dominated by obligations and consumerism, showing how daydreams can serve as an escape from reality. At the same time, societal issues such as environmental pollution and political machinations are criticized, reflecting a critical view of the world.

The song highlights the inner conflict between the desire to address the world’s problems and the need to focus on one’s own feelings and relationships. Overall, the song portrays people who must navigate a complex and often overwhelming world but find solace in love.
Musically, it draws from the acoustic folk genre and blends in a bit of electro-pop, with Frank’s velvety voice steering it towards what can be described as “Joshua-pop.” Personally, I find the combination brilliant; you start off expecting something folky, and then Frank completely surprises you, placing you in the midst of a pop song that never forgets its folky roots. So, we will call it simply “Joshua-Electro-Folk-pop at its finest.”
