Anyone who knows Code 150 knows that their sound is a bit darker than usual. Dark wave, as it should be—at least the way I like it—is always a question of taste.

With ‘Hypnotised,’ Code 150 have once again succeeded in creating an insanely good piece of post-punk that is convincing in every respect. The song conveys a dark and emotional journey, characterized by confusion, pain, and illusion. There is a struggle, and at the same time, an attempt to accept or deal with the shadows of one’s own reality. An atmosphere of loss, longing, and the struggle for clarity or even redemption is created.

‘Hypnotised’ reveals the vulnerability of human beings and the desire for liberation from a self-imposed labyrinth. Musically staged in a very mystical way, Code 150 create exactly the atmosphere that this theme demands: a drum machine delivers a pounding, staccato rhythm that forms the backbone, with heavy synths layered above, casting a spell over you. Floating above it all are the mystical vocals, insistent and demanding, almost craving attention. Code 150 are back in full swing and deliver yet another extraordinary track with ‘Hypnotised.’
