They hail from Amsterdam (NL), call themselves Lemon, and deliver the finest Madchester sound – in their case, Nedchester sound. For those unfamiliar with the term Madchester, it refers to a music style or movement that emerged at the end of the ’80s and carried on into the ’90s.

Back then, the so-called „Second Summer of Love“ was proclaimed: insane grooves paired with indie rock. Their new single, „Till the Break of Dawn“, strikes exactly the same chord. The opening is fantastic and treats us to that typical guitar sound reminiscent of Primal Scream. The drums that follow are a tantalising foretaste of the heaven of groove that’s to come. Next up are the vocals, which channel Blue-Eyed Soul and hit the mark flawlessly. A brief Happy Mondays-style interlude around the 1:30 mark adds variety and brings a smile to my face. Lemon grooves on endlessly—as if there’s no tomorrow and time itself has stood still.

With „Till the Break of Dawn“, Lemon not only revives the sound of that era but also rekindles the special feeling it evoked, creating a „Third Summer of Love,“ if you will, where everything feels carefree—if only for the duration of the song.
