Their album ‚Thelma’s Dream‘ weaves together a captivating soundscape that takes the listener on a journey into a surreal world full of contrasts. The album was written and recorded in Helsinki, and it kicks off with a pretty intense atmosphere that’s almost tangible. These dreamlike melodies, distorted guitar riffs and raw emotions are all mixed together to create a unique listening experience.

The opener ‚From the heights‚ transports the listener to airy heights where hope and melancholy meet in a delicate dance, while the second song, ‚Sofia‘, takes the experimental field further into the realm of grungy shoegaze while remaining true to its basic dreamy mood.
The song that follows, ‚Voices‚, has a great opening that’s quite striking and powerful before taking you into this other-worldly world of sound. The voice, half-hidden in the soundscapes, casts a spell over the listener—as if it wants to reveal quiet secrets from forgotten dreams. The interplay between intensity and vulnerability is masterfully staged here.
This is followed by ‚Rooms‚, an almost pop-like song that nevertheless develops into an unmistakable highlight thanks to its powerful chorus and haunting melody. The song acts as the emotional centrepiece of the album, combining catchy pop elements with the band’s characteristic artistic experimentation.

In ‚Strange were the days‚, the band shows its most experimental side: downtempo with a strong vocal part and a progressive musical development that takes the listener on an introspective journey.
‚1000 Poems‚ floats weightlessly like a poetic dream—my second favourite after „Rooms“, which has an impressive melody and an almost meditative mood. The song lends the album a delicate, almost mystical character and leaves room for the variety of influences that come together in the music of Thelma’s Dream.
With ‚Holier than this‚, the band enters the terrain of alt-rock. It creates a fascinating arc of tension between quiet passages and explosive, charged moments. The song manages to combine traditional rock elements with the band’s subtle emotionality, resulting in an intense listening experience.
The eighth track impresses with sophisticated drums and a concise bassline, which together form a powerful rhythm. ‚How you wake the ocean‚ gives the album additional drive and provides an unmistakable pulse that drives the entire work forward.
The album closes with ‚Wildfire‚, a song that spans the entire spectrum of musical expression in its final explosion from the first to the last note.

Thelma’s Dream succeeds in merging different musical genres—from dream pop to shoegaze and grunge to alt-rock—into a harmonious whole. Vocals, melodies, drums, and bass combine to create an atmospheric soundscape that is both stimulating and emotionally moving. The album not only presents a variety of moods and timbres but also celebrates the artistic freedom to give each element its space to unfold.
