„Hnikarr“ – Ullrson

With „Hnikarr“, Ullrson unleashes a sonic battle that is deeply rooted in Norse mythology while also conjuring up technoid visions of the future. The track is a monumental example of the genre of ‘Viking techno,’ which fuses archaic instruments such as the nyckelharpa, lyre and jaw harp with modern electronic elements. The composition thrives on contrasts: thunderous pads and a driving bass meet warlike percussion – horseshoes, weapons, anvils – and are permeated by throat singing and war horns. The voice that evokes the name „Hnikarr“ resonates as a summons from an alternate realm, an auditory remnant reminiscent of Odin himself. The composition is notable for its musical strength and its incorporation of mythological elements. „Hnikarr“ becomes the sound form of the spear lord, the soundtrack of a storm that weaves together past and present. A ritual in bass and thunder.
