With his output, APRAXIS demonstrates how fascinating genre fusion can sound when it is understood not merely as a stylistic device, but as a fundamental aesthetic approach. His urge not only to push boundaries but to redefine them in passing runs like an invisible thread through all his pieces – fresh, familiar and yet always slightly offset from the expected track, precisely where friction arises and something new becomes audible. Today we’re listening to three tracks that couldn’t be more different, but at their core breathe the same idea.
‘Fresher Through the Looking Glass’ feels like a hall of mirrors made of rhythm and reflection: the 2-step pulse ignites immediately, but the garage house aesthetic and subtle dub shades distort the perspective, as if looking through a moving water surface. The dubby bassline acts as a gravitational centre that holds the track together, while simultaneously pushing it forward and pulling it into the depths – a dance between surface and undercurrent.
‘The Circus Part 2’ resembles a travelling circus tent that refuses to stay in one place or genre. Electronic house energy collides with jazzy fragments that whirl through the air like improvised acrobatic feats. APRAXIS does not compose a song in the classical sense here, but rather a state – an acoustic biotope that is constantly expanding. Pure immersion, untamed, like a circus that sets up its ring in the middle of the listener’s head.
Finally, ‘DJ Wurx (26)’ seems like a satellite orbiting the 90s house era without ever fully entering its atmosphere. With a little more stadium pathos, we would almost be in the KLF cosmos, but as it is, the track remains more of a sparkling body in the orbit of acts like The Shamen – danceable and slightly anarchic, like a radio signal from a time that has never quite passed.
Conclusion: APRAXIS delivers not a gimmick, but a coherent vision: music as a mutable system that constantly reforms itself yet remains unmistakable. An invitation to drift along – and at the same time to listen wide awake to where the journey will take us next.
