Following the acclaimed debut “Strange Behaviour”, which was warmly received by the press, EGGER returns with his new single “The People”. This release marks a clear artistic progression: while the foundation of cool synths and minimalist electro remains intact, EGGER leans further into the aesthetics of 80s Dark ElectroPop. A pounding bass drum, reminiscent of a marching step, drives the track forward with hypnotic force. Vocals take on a more prominent role than in his debut, adding emotional depth and intensity, while the overall production stays true to the ethos of electronic minimalism – stripped down, precise, and impactful.
Lyrically, “The People” explores the collective human condition. The recurring mantra “They run again” captures the eternal tension between escape and pursuit. Humanity runs from silence, noise, broken dreams, and unshed tears, yet simultaneously moves toward a fractured destiny filled with hope for “the more.” Each step resonates like an echo of ancient stories, symbolizing the endless search for meaning and transformation. Fans of Depeche Mode, Boy Harsher, Cold Cave, or The Soft Moon will find familiar echoes in EGGER’s sound – dark, hypnotic, and emotionally charged – yet with a distinct minimalism that sets him apart. With “The People”, EGGER solidifies his place in the electronic scene: introspective and danceable.
