„Overlord“ hits home immediately, a song that, although it tells an old story, captivates with its contemporary relevance: money, power and corruption are not only addressed, but negotiated in a character who, having become rich yet insatiable, places himself above the law and acts as a smokescreen gangster behind a shiny façade. Musically, Forgotten Garden builds a dense scene in which Mel D’s Argentine bass lays the foundation, while melodic guitars and a dark synth reminiscent of post-punk aesthetics cast shadows that Danny contrasts with two pianos and the drums keep the pulse high. Inês Rebelo sings in such a way that the verses, delicate and melancholic, create a vulnerable intimacy, from which a cutting anger erupts in the chorus, making the narrative, which is about greed, not only understood but felt. Forgotten Garden, a duo working between Scotland and Portugal whose sound oscillates between The Cure reminiscence and Lana Del Rey melancholy, delivers „Overlord“, a track that dissects the present in a sober and atmospherically dense manner.
