For its 100th release, FiloFX Records returns to its roots and presents Rogue FX’s Filofax – The Greed Is Good Remix, a brilliantly polished tribute to the track that once inspired its name. The remix feels like a luxurious souvenir from an era that never quite went away: the 1980s, when success was a tailor-made suit and greed was considered a virtue. Rogue FX paints a portrait of a protagonist who oscillates somewhere between Gordon Gekko and a cultivated, less bloodthirsty Patrick Bateman. Musically, Italo disco and electro merge into a driving stream of synthesizers that glides over polished paper with the precision of a fountain pen. For three and a half minutes, the track rolls through the night like a shiny limousine, each beat another sparkle in the chrome gliding along the endless boulevard of self-optimisation.
