With ‘NineFortyFive’, pMad once again opens up those interstices where post-punk becomes not just a sound, but a state of being. The Irish artist presents a track that feels like a slow breath from another sphere: shadowy guitars, a cinematic undercurrent, a pulse that seems to float rather than drive. At its heart lies a narrative of immortality, but not in the heroic sense – rather as a quiet continuation of existence that detaches itself from the body and transitions into another form of being. The lyrics describe this transition with an almost tender calm. Death appears as a companion, guiding the self through landscapes of memory: fields, light, childhood – all of it passing by before time itself loses its meaning. What remains crucial is the assertion of a continuing self that does not dissolve, but is transformed. NineFortyFive is thus less a classic gothic rock song than a dark meditation on memory, identity and what remains when all earthly things are long gone. A piece that does not end, but lingers – like an echo from an eternity that no one has chosen, but which everyone senses.
