With ‘Get Up’, EGGER – the electro-experimental project by Austrian musician Wolfgang Egger –presents his fourth single: a 130 BPM synthwave track that liberates the 80s aesthetic from therealm of nostalgia and transports it into an analogue, retro-futuristic present. Egger, who works across modular synthesis, minimalism and sonic conceptual art, sees his music as studies in perception: layers that shift slowly, sequences that pulse like mechanical organisms, and vocals
that function as signals. In Get Up, this approach crystallises into a physical impulse – a mantra-like call (get up, get up, move in desire / get up, shout to the top) that stands up to the algorithmic rigidity of modern electronic music.
‘Get Up’ offers an ideal introduction to Egger’s artistic world, which navigates the terrain between analogue imperfection, digital friction and experimental electronica. Egger, shaped by a fascination with machine logic and the residual emotional warmth of technological systems, has established himself through releases such as ‘Strange Behaviour’ as a voice that not only produces electronic music but also reflects upon it. His tracks function as sonic essays – precise, atmospheric, conceptual – and Get Up is his most accessible release to date, as it combines club energy with intellectual depth.
